Summary

The context of this thesis is the use of FMCW radar in the millimeter range for bio-medical applications. The use of these radars in newly standardized frequency ranges allows to follow physiological constants such as the heartbeat in a non-invasive way. The targeted applications are in telemedicine, home care for elderly people, etc.

To do this, we used a radar type FMCW - Frequency Modulated Continous Wave - millimeter waves. Thus we work with high frequencies ranging from 77 to 81 GHz which allows us to have a very high resolution of movement, resolution that we need because the movements of the bust induced by the heart are of the order of half a millimeter.
