Together, let us build the future with our human genius at the service of our universe and its living beings. We are what we create.
Core business
At ISEN Yncréa Méditerranée, Stéphane Vera and his team are mobilized to provide technological solutions in response to major societal challenges such as the fight against global warming, health, intelligent energy management, and security and privacy of citizens. Research and Development activities are led by our research professors. These activities focus on five vertical themes: "micro and nanotechnologies", "e-health and digital systems", "smart energy", "artificial intelligence" and "smart objects", supported by 2 cross-disciplinary themes: "human and social sciences" and "software development".
Prospective
Our strong links with industry and the world of research make it easier to understand needs and developments in terms of technologies and markets; this in turn enables us to orient the content of the courses given to our engineering students accordingly (typology and level of skills, experience, methods and know-how). In the medium term, Yncréa Méditerranée's R&D team will continue to develop new digital uses, objects and business models, placing needs and user experience at the heart of the process. It will leverage its knowledge in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, IoT, cybersecurity, micro and nanosciences, contactless technology and information processing to provide concrete solutions to today's and tomorrow's challenges; for example, in favor of healthcare for homecare of the elderly. The reliability of critical systems and intelligent energy management are also priority research topics, as are the security of urban spaces and respect for privacy.
360°
With its institutional and industrial partners, Yncréa Méditerranée carries out national and international collaborative projects. Yncréa Méditerranée carries out research and development services for its clients in its fields of expertise, using its fablab, which has been accredited by MIT as a rapid prototyping tool. The R&D team deploys a great deal of energy to bring a high level scientific contribution to the world of research, by conducting research with partner laboratories, by writing scientific articles, by participating in conferences, by supervising PhDs and by carrying out advanced proofs of concept for its clients.
About me
After graduating in 1998 with an engineering degree from ESIM (now Centrale Marseille), I turned my professional career towards the industrial world and its challenges. I first joined GFI (now Inetum), where I worked on software development in the telecoms sector. Then, in 2000, I joined Gemplus (now Gemalto and Thales DIS), where I progressively took on responsibilities as technical leader, project manager and unit manager. For 8 years, I had the pleasure and privilege of creating and deploying products with strong operational constraints with formidable teams at major telecoms players in some fifty countries, including Verizon (US), Orange world (UK &FR), O2 (DE), Vodafone (DE), NTT Docomo (JP), Optimus (PT), HOI (SA), etc.
On the strength of this experience of working closely with customers, their issues and pre-sales, I took over responsibility for the GCOTA product (Over The Air platform administering over 1 billion SIM cards) within Gemalto R&D.
Alongside this professional activity since 1999, I have always wanted to share my knowledge of the "field" and learn from students. I first taught as a PAST at the IUT Génie Telecom et Réseaux de Luminy, then as a part-time lecturer at EMSE (Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne), Centrale Marseille and ISEN (now Yncréa Méditerranée).
It was through contact with these engineering schools that, in 2010, I decided to take part in a new adventure with new challenges. So I joined ISEN as Director of Research and Development. Since then, my missions have been to participate in the COMEX of Yncréa Méditerranée, to manage a team of R&D teacher-researchers made up of committed and remarkable individuals, to define the R&D development strategy and its objectives, to manage the R&D budget, to interface with project funding structures such as the European Commission, the BPI, the DGE, etc., to set up national/international collaborative projects and to sell R&D services. In 2016, I had the immense honor of being entrusted with the Yncréa group's IoT research chair, which I have since managed in addition to my R&D management activity.
